At the 37th World Zionist Congress, the VISION alliance successfully fought for recognition of the Jewish people as an indigenous people to the Land of Israel, including the legal ramifications that such recognition holds internationally. Through the legislative efforts of our delegates, we forced the World Zionist Organization – as a representative body of the Jewish people – to make an official declaration that the Jews are an indigenous people in our homeland.
But indigeneity is more than just a pro-Israel talking point. It’s an identity we must internalize in order to indigenize back into the Semitic region we returned to. It requires real engagement with our identity and culture, as well as deep identification with our ancestors and real solidarity with indigenous struggles throughout the world.
